B.C. Adams was born in Clay County, Tennessee to Edward King Adams, and Clara DeVerny Rains-Adams. He married Ova B. Langford in Overton County, Tennessee on 13 Sept 1899 and had one daughter before she died, Martana Adams. He married again to Martha Susan "Mattie Sue" Thurman in Clay County, Tennessee on 09 March 1906 and they had three children. She died after the third was born and it died as well. He married the third and last time to Vanoy Alice Ford in Overton County, Tennessee on 19 December 1914. They had eleven children and three of them died before maturity. He was a brother to Granville, Miles, Millard, Jim, Bud, Rosie Long, Belle Baggett, Lucy Reynolds, and Dossie Lee Adams.
