Lindsey Reed Benfield, 61 died Monday, Jan 31, 2000 at West Park Hospital.
He was born Jan. 27, 1939, to Harry Eugene Benfield and Alberta H. Anderson at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC.
Lindsay was raised during his teenage years by grandfather and grandmother Benfield in Deep River, NC. He attended Deep River School, where he graduated in May 1957.
After graduating, he returned to Washington, D.C., to work for his father's sidewalk construction company. After that he worked for the District of Columbia as an inspector. He then returned to sidewalk construction and ran his own successful business, Cabeco, Inc., for many years. In 1992 he decided to retire and move west to Cody.
He married Meredith Joy Riddle on April 25, 1959, in Hyattsville, Md. During their marriage, they had four children, Cindy, Sandra, Brenda and Lance.
he married, Debi Guzik on Dec. 4, 1993, in Cody. They had been a couple since 1982.
His many interests included skeet shooting, fishing, hunting, playing darts and pool. Lindsey was a member of the Elks Lodge #1611. Eagles Lodge #818, Cody American Legion, a lifetime member of Cody Shooting Complex and the NRA.
Survivors include his wife Debi of Cody, daughters Cindy and Bob Kestner, Sandra Benfield, Brenda and Curtis Vaughn and son Lance and Connie Benfield, all of Frederick, Md., grandchildren Danielle, Kirsten, Joy, Tyler and Dillon, sister Ann and Jim Woodburn, many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ballard Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
Memorial services and interment of cremains will take place at a future date at Haywood Bible Church and Cemetery in Sanford, N.C.
Memorial donation may be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice, 708 Sheridan Ave., or the cancer Care-a Van, c/o Big Horn Cancer Center, 1025 Ninth St., Cody
