Elizabeth was the eldest child of David S. Hendricks and Malinda J. Howard. She moved to Wisconsin with her parents about 1850/51.
She married Phillip Rheingans 13 September 1859 in the Presbyterian church at Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County, Wisconsin. They had three children:

Lucy Ann (possibly Lucinda, like Elizabeth's sister)
Philip Albert (who later changed his surname to "Rankins")
