Mr. Upjohn, To honor you, Sir, for the beautiful Gothic building you designed for America. Anyone who has ever seen himself caught in the quiverings of the conspicuous mirrors of the grand staircase in the Longstreet mansion at Syracuse will be dismayed to learn that it has been demolished by the University. It was a fantastic fortress of stone, built for the clothier, C. T. Longstreet, who reaped a fortune shipping ready-made suits to California at the height of the Gold Rush. Rest well, friend!
