Ephraim Barneycastle was the son of Francis and Anna Keller Barneycastle. His pension application states that the family name was Barneycastle, but the Barney was dropped after the war. He used the surnames Cassel and Castle, but his tombstone uses B'Cassel. He fought in the Civil War in 21st Regt NC Infantry and also 9th Battalion NC Sharpshooters. He never married. Ephraim shares a gravestone with Tempy.
