George Clovis Taylor was born in Union Twp., Muskingum Co. OH not far from Norwich, the only son of Sidney A. Taylor (1862-1932) and Iola Mae (Marshall) Taylor (1884-1968). He received education degrees from Muskingum College and Ohio State University, and served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. In August 1942 he married Lucille Adora Rainey (1916-2001) of Byesville, Guernsey Co., daughter of Fred S. and Lela (Burt) Rainey. After the war they settled in Bedford, Cuyahoga Co. OH where they raised four children. George C. Taylor was the much beloved principal of Ellenwood elementary school (Bedford) for most of his career and was very active in his church and in local service organizations.
