Earl Jack Crawford, 89, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at Four Seasons Living Center.

He was born March 8, 1919, in Latham, Missouri, a son of Edward G. and Effie Armstrong Crawford. On Nov. 5, 1939, in Clarksburg, Missouri, he was married to Virginia Van Stratten, who died Dec. 27, 1990. On March 17, 1997, in Sedalia, he was married to June Furnell Jonson, who survives of the home.

After finishing school, he joined the C.C.C. Camp in California, Missouri. He served for 2 1/2 years as bugler and officers quarterly. He worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad as a timekeeper for the men on the tracks, before becoming store manager for Gerbes Supermarket in Versailles, California and Marshall. Then, he went to work for Thriftway in Kansas City, Missouri. Later, he was a salesman and manager for Reliable Life Insurance Co., retiring after 25 years.

Mr. Crawford was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon emeritus. He loved the Lord and talked a lot about the homecoming with Jesus and his family, especially his mother. He was also a member of Granite Lodge 272, Headwaters Keyboard Association, Moose Lodge 1494, Elks Lodge 125, Sedalia Knife and Fork Club, and Life Underwriters of Sedalia. He was a graduate of the Sedalia Citizens Police Academy. He enjoyed music, especially singing, and playing with his cat, Tommy.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sharon Crawford, of Millsap, Texas; two granddaughters, Chris Johanson, and husband, Rich, of Brazil, Indiana, and Aeron Tipton, and husband, Buzzy, of Millsap, Texas; five great grandchildren; two step daughters, Erin Moore, of Sedalia, and Shannon Kohrs, of Sedalia; two step grandchildren; and 11 step great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl S. and Ralph Crawford.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Bond, Ed Kirby, Kenneth Pabst, David Lehman and Luke Tipton. Burial will be in Hickman Masonic Cemetery in Clarksburg, Missouri.The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Friday at Heckart Funeral Home.
