PLEMEL - Gertrude, of Columbia Manor, passed away on November 8th, 2007 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her husband, John; parents, Josephine and Leopold Knafelc; sisters, Dolores Knafelc (at birth), Mary (Ben) Wurm, Molly (Frank) Schmid; and brother, Stan Knafelc. She is survived by her sons, Richard Plemel and Robert Plemel; daughters, Joanne Plemel, Carolyn (Jack) Oliver, and Patricia (Sheldon) Friesen; grandchildren, Bill Oliver, Carrie Oliver (Ian Batchelor), Michelle Friesen, and Heather (T.J) Nicholson; sisters, Lottie Plemel, Agnes Gerspacher, Dorothy (Ed) Doepker; brother, Joseph (Anne) Knafelc; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Cook, Dorothy Neuses, Louise Knafelc and Agnes Montgomery; Imelda Plemel and Helen Plemel; Brothers-in-law, Conrad Plemel, and Martin (Marie) Plemel; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Gertie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at Weyakwin Lake. She resided at Columbia Manor in Saskatoon where she had many close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Paul's Hospital-Palliative Care Unit (1702 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9) would be appreciated. A Vigil for Gertrude will be held on Sunday, November 11th, at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 12th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Father Michael Koch as the celebrant. Both services will be held at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church (Taylor Street East and Munroe Avenue). Rite of Committal will be at Woodlawn Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.on Tuesday, November 13th, 2007. Arrangements in care of Jonn Schachtel - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (978-5200).
