"CARTHAGE -- Funeral services for Mavis Margueriette Bird, 58, of Beckville, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hawthorn Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Herman Bagley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery in Gary. Miss Bird died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1982, in a Longview hospital after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 11, 1923, in Gary, she was operator of Gary telephone system for many years. She had lived in Beckville since 1977, moving from Gary. She belonged to the Baptist church.
Survivors include three cousins, Mrs. Charles P. Frazier of Carthage, Birdie Lee Wellborn of Henderson and Raymond Lampin of Carthage; and many nieces and nephews." The Marshall News Messenger (Marshall, Texas), January 19, 1982
