JOSEPH W. BALL is a native of Henry County, born in May 1933, the second

The father was a native of Virginia, moved to Kentucky in 1829, and
settled in Henry County, where he engaged in tanning. Our subject was
reared on the farm, the pursuits of which he has since followed, and is
now one of the most successful farmers and stock growers in Trimble
County, and the owner of 300 acres of well improved land near Bedford. He
was elected magistrate in 1879, in the Palmyra District and re-elected in
1887. Mr. Ball has been twice married; first in December 1854, to Miss
Amanda Jones, daughter of William and Mary Jones, and who died September
8, 1885, without issue. His second marriage occurred in 1857, with Miss
