According to the Clinton County News of June 20, 1999, Lyle W. Acre was 78 when he passed away on June 14 of that year at his home in Ovid, MI. Funeral services were held June 17 at the Duplain Church of Christ, Rochester Colony.

Lyle was one of the sons of Orin Acre, whose parents were Edward and Grace Acre of Elsie. Orin's other sons were Paul and Sidney (both of Elsie) and Leon (like Lyle, a resident of Ovid). Lyle also had three daughters whose married names were Elisabeth Levey (of Elsie), Ruby Kimball (of St. Johns) and Ivah Risley (of Ovid). Ivah was named after Lyle's aunt Ivah, who died at the age of 21 on Christmas Day during the 1918 flu epidemic.

According to government records, Lyle was residing in Duplain MI at the time of the 1930 and 1940 censuses.
