H. W. Beers, living south of the river in Hamilton county, passed away at his home Thursday afternoon at 12:30 of paralysis. He had not been well all winter and was bedfast for the last five weeks. He had lived to be 75 years, 9 months and 2 days old.

Mr. Beers came to this part of the country in 1887 with his family from Illinois and resided on his place ever since Grand Island being his trading point he became very well known and liked among the business people especially and he will be better known to many here as the fruit man, having a large orchard, the product of which was brought to Grand Island by the wagon loads. He was one of those men many would style a "grand old man," very accomodating and a pleasant man to meet. Besides his wife, there are six children, three boys and three girls to mourn his loss. They are William Beers, of South Athol, Mass.; Mrs. M H. McDowell, of Cairo; Wallace Beers, Charles Beers, Mrs. Alfred Clead, and Mrs. Charles Kesel. The funeral will take place Sunday morning at 10 o'clock from the home, four and one half miles east and four miles north of Doniphan. Rev. Gilbert will officiate.
