Alta G. Bir, 98, 1120 N. Main St., died at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1903, in Brookston, to Oscar and Ella Ramey Harmon. She married Clarence Adrian Bir in White County on Jan. 25, 1921. He died on April 26, 1961.

She lived in White County most of her life and in Crawfordsville for 15 years.

She worked in the Reynolds School Corp. as a cook for several years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, where she was a member of the Rosary and Sodality.

She was a member of Honeycreek Home Ec. Club for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Moose and Eagles auxiliaries, both in Monticello.

She was a member of the Twin Lakes Senior Citizens Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Houston and Ruth Buschman, both of Monticello; 33 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

One son, one daughter, one brother and a sister are deceased.

Visitation will be held today from 4-8 p.m. at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today by the Rev. James Goodrum at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Sell Msgr. officiating.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Reynolds.

Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
