Great Grandpa was in the I.O.O.F. in Dubuque, Iowa. He converted to Jehovah's Witness after the death of his beloved wife, Gud.
The children were raised as Lutheran and all baptized as Lutheran in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 2025 Jackson Street, in Dubuque, Iowa.
Edy was cremated and his ashes were scattered around his wife, Gudrun's burial site, the government told his family, that they couldn't scatter his ashes in the Mississippi River where he wanted to be.
