Levi Harry Beeks was born in Randolph county, Indiana, March 27, 1853 and died Oct. 22, 1924, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 26 days. His boyhood was spent in his native state and in Missouri.
In 1874 he came with his parents to Oregon, and in 1876 came to Klickitat county and settled in the Pleasant Valley section, where he made his home for 17 years.
Mr. Beeks was a pioneer not only in name, but in spirit, there being many evidences in the community where he lived to testify to this fact. There are very few of the pioneer buildings or rail fences which he did not help to build.
After coming to Washington, he made this state his home, having lived in various counties, his last residence been Donald, Yakima county.
(Levi) Beeks was the youngest of a family of six children, all of whom have preceded him to the Great Beyond. He was never married, and at the time of his death was staying with his niece, Mrs. Emmett Radcliff, where he came Aug. 17, 1924.
The deceased was baptized by Elder Robinson several years ago and was a quiet, goodly man, always ready to give a helping hand in time of need, honest in his dealings, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his departure, besides, Mrs. Radcliff, two nieces and three nephews, together with a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Emmett Radcliff, the services being conducted by Rev. S.C. Eshelman of Centerville. The body was laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery to await the general resurrection.
