A graveside celebration of Petras life will be held on April 24, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield. A Wake Service will be held Tuesday, 5-6 p.m. at Bakersfield Family Funeral Directors.
Born September 1, 1940 and went to be present with the Lord on April 18, 2002. Petra was the daughter of the late Reynaldo O. Gutierrez and Jennie Gutierrez.
Petra was active throughout her life time in numerous charitable and educational organizations including and not limited to: P.T.A., C.S.O. and The United Farm Workers and as a strong Community Activist for Bilingual Education. However, her most accomplished occupation was that of mother to Chris R. Alcala, Debie Alcala; mother-in-law to Aurora B. Alcala, Averll Morales; grandmother to Danielle Alcala, Brenna Alcala, Zachary R. Alcala, Adrianna Alcala, Krystal Morales and Chris Morales.
Petras unconditional love, laugh, smile, wisdom and the uncaning ability to listen will be virtues that will live an eternity in all that had the blessing of crossing her path.
Her brothers and sisters, Margaret Carrasco, Robert Gutierrez, Rose Gutierrez, Irene Messing and Michael Gutierrez; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends will miss her greatly and endeavor to lead our lives as she led hers.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Louis and Ray Gutierrez
