Del Norte Prospector dated June 27, 1947
Mrs. Lee Skinner, 48, resident of Creede and formerly of Del Norte, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital early this Thursday. She had been in failing health for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the Methodist Church here, with burial in the local cemetery.
Myrtle Nalore Skinner was born in Creede May 22, 1899, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gavin Brownlee. Her father preceded her in death.
She attended school in Del Norte when a girl but most of her schooling was in Steamboat. She attended business college in Denver. On June 19, 1921, she was married to Ralph Lee Skinner in Del Norte. To this union were born five children. They are: Wilma Adalee; Gavin Wylie; Ralph Myrl, deceased; Charlotte Darling, and Mary Louise. All except Mary Lou were born in Del Norte.
Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her passing her husband, mother, Mrs. E. J. Freeman, of Florence; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Owens, of Pueblo and Mrs. Woodrow Weaver, of Creede; one brother, W. H. Swinehart of Creede, aunts, cousins, and a host of close friends.
Mrs. Skinner was a member of the Methodist Church; of the Order of Easter Star and the Rebekahs at Creede.
