Death called Mrs. R. C. Bedford, one of the historic women of California, Saturday, at her home in Woodville, Oregon. The remains were brought to Orland Monday and Tuesday were taken to Newville for interment.
Mrs. Bedford was a native of Kentucky and was a cousin of the veneral Henry Clay. She came to California at an early date, crossing the plains by ox-team. She, together with her husband, settled at Newville where they resided for years. A few years ago Mr. Bedford died and Mrs. Bedford moved to Oregon where she has since lived. She was 86 years old at the time of her death. A son and a daughter survive her. - Transcribed by E.
