Harry Vernon "Buck" Brown,78 a longtime resident of Spickard, died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 4:16 p.m. at his home in Spickard surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born July 12, 1938 in Spickard, the son of Harry Vernon Brown Sr. and Sylvia Annis Terry Brown. He attended Spickard schools, graduating in 1956. He graduated from Trenton Junior College in 1958.

Buck Brown was married to Sue Robbins and they were the parents of two children. He married Carolyn Louderback on August 10, 1976 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was employed by Trenton Foods for 36 years and farmed in the Spickard area all his life. He loved the outdoors, horses, Belted Galloway cattle, and enjoyed carpentry, leatherwork, and traveling. Most of all, Buck loved being with his family and friends. Very active in the Spickard community, he served on the School Board, Fair Board, Board of Aldermen, Special Road District Board, Community Center Board, and Saddle Club.

Buck is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 40 years; daughter Wendy Broberg and her husband Rick of Leawood, Kansas; granddaughter Cassie Lamp and her husband Cory of Platte City; great-granddaughters Avery and Morgan Lamp; and nephews Kenneth Weaver and his wife Vicki of Trenton and Kelly Weaver and his wife Sheri of Beaver, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeffrey Frank Brown; and his sister, Mary Ellen Brown Weaver.

A celebration of Buck Brown's life will be held Monday, February 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Spickard Christian Church, with a family visitation at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Spickard Masonic Cemetery.
