Ruth Alice (Betker) Adamski, age 82, of Laona passed away at St. Mary's Hospital, Rhinelander on Wednesday, November 10, 2004. Ruth was born March 17, 1922 in Laona, the daughter of the late Peter A. and Alice S. (Simonis) Betker.
During WWII Ruth worked as a welder in the Manitowoc shipyards and also at Trade Winds in Manawa during the late 1960's and 1970's. Ruth enjoyed bowling, dancing, cooking, playing cards and watching the Brewers baseball games.
She is survived by her four children: Jerry (Roberta) Adamski, Grandview, Missouri, Alan (Rena) Adamski, Summit Lake, Janis Adamski, Menasha, Lori (Steve) DeNure, Oshkosh; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Frances Kendall, West Allis, Ethel Calhoun, Laona and Vivian Tangness, Cherry Valley, California. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, one son, three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 13, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon. Funeral services followed at noon with Pastor Bill Farr officiating. Interment was at the Laona Cemetery.
