Santa Rosa, CA

William (Bill) Baker died at his home in Windsor Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the age of 76.

He was the loving husband of Maxine Baker for 53 years. Bill was the beloved father of Debbie (Mike) Kauk, Dawn Sherrie Baker, Todd (Mary) Baker and Jeff (Tanna) Baker. He was the dear brother of Ed (Pat) Baker, Mary Lou Palmer and Jan (Joyce) Baker and the adored grandfather of Star (John) Cox, Crystal Kauk, Danielle and Christopher Baker and great-granddaughters, Madison, Jocelyn and Lillian Cox.

Bill was born in Jefferson, Iowa to Lyle and Louise Baker. He was raised in West Des Moines where he developed a love of horses. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served in the KOREAN WAR. He returned to Iowa State College after the service where he met and married Maxine Elliott in 1953. They came to California in 1957 and raised their family in Saratoga where Bill delivered milk as Blue Hills Dairy for over 20 yrs. After selling his route he began a video game business that he ran for ten years until retirement. Later he worked for Santa Rosa Junior College Bookstore during "rush". "Bill was friendly and never met a stranger".

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Saturday October 21, 2006 at 1 p.m. at White Oak Church, N.E. 38th St., Elkhart, Iowa. Inurnment is in White Oak Cemetery, White Oak, Polk County, Iowa. Arrangements are handled by Santa Rosa Mortuary Eggen & Lance Chapel 707-545-3747.
