ALMA MARIE BILLUPS
Alma Marie Billups, daughter of Aaron and Mary Ada (Harrold) Matson, was born Jan. 26, 1904 in the Blythedale community in Harrison County, Missouri. She was the fifth of nine children and had lived in Harrison County all her life.
On Dec. 5, 1931 she married Willard Doral Billups at the Christian church parsonage in Albany, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Bonnie L. Simpson, now living in Wadesboro, North Carolina, Clayton Paul Billups and James Willard Billups, both of Ridgeway, Missouri.
After retiring they moved to Mt. Moriah, Missouri in 1972, then they returned to the farm in 1979 to finish out their last years of life. In Feb. 1984 she moved to Bethany Care Center. She passed away at Heartland West Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri, on Nov. 19, 1987 at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 24 days.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Doral, June 26, 1984; her father and mother; three brothers, Roy, Cleo and Dean; and one sister, Flossie.
Surviving are her children, Bonnie, Clayton and James; three sisters, Minnie Bowen of Bethany; Helen Billups of Blythedale; and Creta Reeder of Ridgeway; one brother, Elza Matson of Blythedale; nine grandchildren, Donnie, Levon, Larry and Sherry Billups of California; Marsha Simpson of Bennettsville, South Carolina, Ramona Simpson of Carrollton, Missouri, Kristy Billups of Maryville, Missouri, Rhonda and Scott Billups of Ridgeway; one great-grandson, Warren Dean Billups of California; three step-great-granddaughters, Debbie and Tracy Perdue of California, and Diane Perdue of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Cainsville First Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star No. 366 of Cainsville.
Funeral services were held at Cainsville First Christian Church on Sunday, Nov. 22, 1987.
