Melissa GOODWIN was born May 4, 1851, in Greenville, Georgia, and departed this life May 19, 1930, at the age of 79 years and 25 days.
She was married to Greenberry CHEEK December20, 1874. This union was blessed with 12 children. Four have passed on before her. Those living are: H., O. B., Marion, Maynor and Malissa CHEEK, Mrs. Lulu BAGSBY, Mrs. Bertie BLAIN and Mrs. Virgil CHAPMAN.
Besides the husband and children she leaves a brother, two sisters, twenty-nine grandchildren and a host of friends.
She united with the Methodist church early in life, later joining the Baptist church with her husband.
Funeral services were held Friday noon at the Cheek home with Fred Barnum in charge. Interment was made in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
