Benny Cockrell, 64, son of Arthur Cockrell and Pearl Knight Cockrell, was born July 25, 1924, in Dallas, Texas. He died on August 11, 1988, at the Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, following a lengthy illness.

He was survived by his wife, Mamie, of the home in the Yukon community; three daughters, three grandchildren, his mother, Pearl Cockrell of Rolla, a sister, and a brother.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1946 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He and his wife lived in the Yukon community for the last 20 years.

Services were Monday, August 15, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Kelley officiating. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery.
