One of his greatest accomplishments was at the Puna Geothermal Venture plant in Hilo, Hawaii, where he played a major role in the restoration of geothermal energy on the island of Hawaii. Due to his leadership and significant contributions to the Hawaiian community, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii honored him by proclaiming Sept. 17, 1999 as "Jack A. Dean Day."
Prior to returning to Texas, he partnered with another inventor and formed the wind energy company, Vertical Wind Turbine Technologies. It took three years of dedicated work to complete the patent approval, during which time he taught part-time at Paris Junior College. Their prototype wind turbine was completed in May 2006 on the Golden ranch, in Amarillo.
