AN AGED PAJAROITE DIES AT SAN JOSE
One Time Property Owner and Member of Local Church Finds Rest at Last.
Benjamin Bardue for many years a resident of Pajaro valley died in San Jose yesterday. The remains will arrive here on the 1 o'clock train tomorrow, and interment will take place at Odd Fellows' cemetery.
Deceased was an old resident of the Pajaro, and at different times owned property near Hunter's hill, near this city on the beach road, and in Watsonville between Fifth and Sixth streets.
Mrs. M.J. McGowan and Mrs. Lee Hussey, of this valley, are granddaughters of Benjamin Bardue.
The San Jose Mercury of today has this to say of his death:
"Benjamin Bardue, who has resided here since 1890, died yesterday at 4:30 p.m. at his residence, 1409 South First street.
"For a number of years Mr. Bardue had been in ill health and of late his system was considerably run down. As he was about 82 years of age he could not throw off the weakness and after many strong stimulants had failed to keep up the heart action, he finally passed away quietly, fully conscious to the last.
"His wife and all of his children, with the exception of Dr. W.N. Bardue, who was in San Francisco, were at his bedside when death came. Dr. Harrison attended him in his last days. Dr. Wayland was called in consultation, but nothing could prolong his life.
"Benjamin Bardue was a native of Pennsylvania and was aged 81 years, 9 months and 7 days. He came to California in the early days and made his home at Watsonville until 1890, when he moved to San Jose. He was a member of the Christian Church and Rev. L.A. Pier, of the Santa Clara Christian Church will officiate at the funeral, which will occur Thursday morning.
"He was the husband of Lucy Bardue, father of Mrs. M.J. Pearce, Mrs. George R. Short (San Jose), J.M. Bardue (Sunnyside), and Dr. W.N. Bardue, of San Francisco. Interment will be at Watsonville."

For a number of years Mr. Bardue had been in ill health and of late his system was considerably run down. Benjamin Bardue was a native of Pennsylvania. He came to California in the early days and made his home at Watsonville until 1890 when he moved to San Jose.
