Max Marlow Adair, son of Marlow and Hazel (Brady) Adair was born June 16, 1921 in Garden Grove, Iowa and passed from this life Friday, April 23, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in West Des Moines, Iowa at 99 years of age.
Max attended Woodland Country School and graduated from Garden Grove High School. He attended college before being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served during W.W. II in North Africa and Sicily. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Iowa and was united in marriage to Beulah Mae Critz on February 20, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Six sons were born to this union, Denny, Jim, Ronnie, David, John and Mike.
Max worked for Solar Air Craft in Des Moines for a few years then began working for Hallett Construction and later Des Moines Asphalt Paving. Max and Beulah were "snowbirds" for nearly 30 years, enjoying spending the winters in Phoenix, AZ. They even made Phoenix their permanent home for several years. They were active with the First Assembly Church in Phoenix all the time they were there and active with LifePoint Church in Osceola. Max and Beulah moved back to Osceola four years ago.
Max enjoyed taking meticulous care of his lawn. He enjoyed playing pool, playing cards, and going to the coffee shop with his friends. Max was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Those relatives who preceded Max in death were his parents Marlow and Hazel Adair, wife Beulah Adair, son, David Adair, grandson, Joseph (Toad) Adair, sister, Madelyn Spedell, sister, Mary Keller, and brother, Darrell Adair.
Max leaves to cherish his memory; son, Denny Adair of Osceola, IA, son, Jim Adair and wife Laurel of Yuma, AZ, son, Ronnie Adair of Osceola, IA, son, John Adair and wife Cindy of Buckeye, AZ, son, Mike Adair and wife Janet Adair of Memphis, TN, daughter-in-law, Donna Lynn Adair of Osceola, Iowa, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister, Betty Beatty of Corydon, IA, brother, Ernest Adair of Cedar Rapids, IA, sister, Janet Handrick of Austin, TX, sister, Carmen Proctor of Osceola, IA, sister, Kay Amalong of Tucson, AZ, brother, John Adair of Glendale, AZ as well as other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating.
Family will greet friends one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
