Downman T. Adams, age 89, of 1415 Jane Lane in West, passed away early Friday morning, February 2, 1990 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in West, with Rev. Lloyd Sansom and Rev. Timothy Thomas officiating. Burial followed in Waco Memorial Park.

Mr. Adams was born July 9, 1900 in Brookshire, Texas, the son of Edward and Evelyn Adams. He married Dorothy Lindsay on April 27, 1921 in San Antonio. He was a Chevrolet dealer in West from 1930 to 1957. He was a charter member of the West Kiwanis Club where he served as Past President. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West where he had served as steward and church treasurer for 25 years. He and his wife moved to Rockport in 1962 and returned to West in 1981.
Mr. Adams served his country during World War I with the United States Army Medical Corps, stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. It was there that he met his wife.

He is preceded in death by one son, Jack Adams, who was killed in a tornado in 1953.

He is survived by [edited for privacy], eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were:: Charles J. Moses, Jr., Mike McGregor, Scott Moses, Bill Pierce, Mark Hendrix, Jim Clark and Greg Van Beber.
