DAVENPORT - Marguerite Leese passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the age of 93 years. She was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Davenport, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at Runge Mortuary on Monday, April 11, 2011, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marguerite Maxine Cole was born on March 7, 1918, in Fairfax, Iowa, to Arthur Blaine Cole and Flossie Mae (Valet) Cole.

She married Alvin Leese on August 22, 1936, in Davenport, Iowa. They had one son, Roger Leese.

The couple farmed in Cedar County, Iowa, and later operated Leese Hatchery in Durant, Iowa, until 1965. Her husband preceded her in death and passed away on December 23, 1965.

Marguerite had a strong spiritual faith and enjoyed a lifelong interest in music. She was an organist with a special interest in playing religious music. Marguerite and her husband were avid flower gardeners, and in later life she was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her sparkling smile.

Marguerite Leese had brothers, Merwyn Cole, Harold Cole, Lawrence Cole, Carl Cole and Lorain Cole. She had sisters, Frances Cole (Templin), Violet Cole, Evelyn Cole (Olson) and Lois Cole (Moldenschardt).

Marguerite is survived by her son, Roger Leese and his wife Debra, and granddaughters, Christine (Tom) Jones and Janine McIllece. She has six great-grandchildren, Justen Kruse, Casey Jones, Bradley McIllece, Kayla Jones, Katelyn McIllece and Bailey Jones.

She is also survived by a sister, Lois Moldenschardt, of Walcott, Iowa, and sister-in-law, Gladys Cole, of Wilton, Iowa.

The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Center for all their loving care they provided to Marguerite.
