Died December 21, 1899, Mrs. Wm. Downing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Scarlett. The deceased was born in Mercer county, Illinois, November 26th, 1863. She was 36 years and 25 days of age.
Her parents moved to Iowa in 1864, from there to Nance county, being one of the first settlers in the spring of 1879. She was united with the Methodist church in early childhood, remaining faithful until death.
She was married to Mr. Wm. Downing November 11, 1886; and leaves a husband and three children to mourn her loss. [Another clipping said she died just after giving birth to a child, and left four children.]
