Stephen Karnis, 75, of Harmar, died Saturday (May 31, 2003) in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born Sept. 30, 1927, in Cheswick, he lived in the Valley all his life.

A veteran, he served in World War II with the Army.

Mr. Karnis worked at Scaife Manufacturing Co., Oakmont, before retiring in 1982.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Catherine (Ben) Nagle of Cleveland, Ohio; and a brother, John Karnis of Albuquerque, N.M.

He also is survived by three grandsons, Steven and Christopher Nagle and Ben Nagle Jr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina Karnis; his parents, John and Katie Solomon Karnis; and a brother, George Karnis.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in CHESWICK at CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 1607 Pittsburgh St., where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township.
