Ensign James Francis Burke was killed in action after the helicopter he was co-pilot on crashed in Vinh Long, South Vietnam. The mission was returning from a firefly recon mission and encountered a thunder storm short of the runway, went IFR, lost control and crashed. Three others on board were also killed.
