Deceased Name: Dawson, Carrie V. Howell

Carrie Dawson was born in McComb, Miss., on Sept. 22, 1920, and died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles. She is survived by sons Larry Dawson and wife Gail, of Hammond, and Ronald Dawson and wife Helen, of Central; a daughter, Carol Dawson Depew and husband Ronald, of Prairieville; two daughters-in-law, JoAnn Dawson, of Gonzales, and Krickett Dawson Perilloux, of Sunshine; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by Clifford Dawson Sr.; two sons, Clifford Dawson Jr. and Donald Dawson; grandchild, Greta Golson; sisters, Grace Howell Strong and Laurabelle Howell Lewis; and three brothers Woodrow, A.J. and Paul Howell. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 5, was from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. David Womack of Sherwood Baptist Church. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
