He Attended local schools in Mexico, ME and was a graduate of Stephens High School class of 1936.
In July 1940 he married Catherine Stratton the daughter of R Brooks Stratton of Rumford Center, ME and they have three children. Raymond 4, William 2 and Irving 3 1/2 months whom he had never seen.
He was employed in the Woodland Dept of the Oxford Paper Co as a buyer before entering the service on May 22, 1944.
He received his training at Camp Croft, SC and was at Fort Meade, MD for a short time before going overseas in Nov. 1944. He was in the Armored Division of the Infantry and was with Gen Hodge's 1st Army in Belgium and Germany. He received the Bronze Star during his participation in the battle of the Belgium Bulge in December.
Besides his wife and children and his parents, he is survived by one sister Evelyn M Halacy of Rumford Center, ME; and one brother Wendell H Holman 31210649 of East Rumford, ME.
Raymond served as a Private First Class, Company B, 36th Armored Infantry, 3rd Armored Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Oxford County, Maine prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on May 22, 1944 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Purchasing agent and also as Married.
Raymond "Died Of Wounds" received in action in Germany during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
