Wilbert J. Hughes, 68, 713 Mountain Ave., died Monday evening at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital.
He was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Altoona, the son of the late Walter W. and Mary (Sherman) Hughes. He married Ardyth P. Tremmel Dec. 9, 1950, in Cumberland, Md.
Mr. Hughes was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
He retired from the stores department of Conrail in 1992, after 38 years of service.
Mr. Hughes enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Sportsmen's Club and the German-American Veterans Club.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Allen of Lakemont; two daughters: Deborah Baumgartner in Colorado and Trina Geiner of Altoona; two sisters: Naomi Lukehart and Ester Woomer, both of Altoona; and two grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Mortuary Inc.
Interment at Blair Memorial Park
Also surviving are a grandson, Allen Hughes Jr., and a granddaughter, Natasha Hughes. Predeceased by four brothers, Gerald, Orville, Chester and Walter Hughes; and a sister Ann Greiner.
