Services for Shirley Ann Walker Lawson, 77, of Coldspring, formerly of Flint, will be on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Flint United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mariann Rayne officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to service at the church.
Burial will follow in Flint Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lawson passed away Aug. 21, 2013. She was born July 16, 1936, to Byron S. and Wilma Nettles Walker.
Shirley grew up in Flint. She then attended Ball High School in Galveston and Lon Morris College in Jacksonville where she met and married H.V. Jones in 1955. They moved to Pasadena and had two children, Karen B. Young and Brian V. Jones. She worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety for 27 years while in Pasadena.
After her divorce from H.V., Shirley met and married Lee Lawson in 1994. They moved to Coldspring after they retired. Shirley loved nature and her family most of all.
Shirley is survived by her loving family including daughter, Karen Young and husband Robert; son, Brian Jones and wife Sandy; brother, Bobby Walker, of Galveston; sister, Wilma Lou Loughlin, of Henderson; grandchildren, Jacob Jones, Jon Jones and Donna Cook; great-grandson, Nathan Gordon; great-great-granddaughter, Kendelle Gordon; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Walker, Ricky Casey, Kyle Casey, Jeff Casey, Bruce Walker and Paul Landreth-Smith.
