E.L. "Buddy" Dobbins, of Dallas, GA., passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN after a brief illness. He was 84. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, August 23, 2013 at Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Dobbins' son Robert Dobbins officiating. Burial will follow at Cheatham Hill Cemetery with Woodstock Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Dobbins was born September 14, 1928 in Marietta, GA to the late Lonus Sydney and Emmie Nevada Watkins Dobbins. Buddy was the owner and operator of Buddy's Garden Center for 17 years. He was also the former owner and operator of Buddy's Texaco and Plainview Restaurant. Mr. Dobbins was employed as a Lead Man at Lockheed Marietta. He was an honorary member of Oak Grove Jaycees, and Former Commander of Post 28 AMVETS. He was a civic minded man, investing in the local community through school and athletic sponsorships for the betterment of education and athletic progress of children in the community. Survivors include his four children: Edwina (Eno) Hall (Walter), Covington, GA; Jimmy Dobbins (Debra), Acworth, GA; Peggy (Bobo) Richardson (Eddie), Jasper, GA; Robert Dobbins (Pam), McCaysville, GA; one brother, Jack Dobbins (Susan), Murphy, NC; eleven grandchildren, Michael Shane Spivey, Jessica Hamrick, Lauren Dobbins, Christy Nichols, Brooke Burdett, Larissa Herndon, Alise Bobo, Phillipp Dobbins, Kimberley Dobbins, Katherine Travis, and Sara Dobbins; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
