Robison, Richard Bert, 90, years young, passed away due to complications of pneumonia on Friday, August 2, 2013. He was a veteran of the World War II battles of Guadalcanal and Leyte Gulf. Robbie was born in Wooster, Ohio on January 11, 1923 to Paul and Marcella Robison. He lived his life in Shreve, OH, until he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in Sept, 1942. He served 3 years, eighteen months in the South Pacific, served in 4 campaigns from the Solomon Islands to the Philippines and observed General MacArthur come ashore on the island of Leyte. In Nov, 1946, he married Pamala Bernice Caskey, of River Grove, IL. He attended Santa Monica City College and graduated from UCLA in 1951. After graduation, he spent two years in Lake County, CA, doing environmental work. In 1953, he moved to Santa Ana where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed by the Orange County Health Department from which he retired in January, 1981, as Assistant Director of Environmental Health. In January, 1955, he was blessed with twin daughters, Karen Pleta and Kathryn Adele. In 1963, he was blessed with a son, Richard Bert, II. In 1975, after 29 years of marriage, his beautiful and loving wife passed away. He was subsequently introduced to Elaine Teissler, with whom he had many travels including camping in the Redwoods. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamala; his daughter, Kathryn Adele; his brother, Joe, who served in the Marines in Korea; and by his sister, Doris Ellen Robison Armstrong, who served in the Army Nursing Corps in WWII. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Robison Schneider her husband Howard and their two children Lauren and Scott Schneider; his son, Richard Bert Robison II; and brother, Paul, who also served with the Marines in Korea. He was blessed by having a loving family including numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Memorial Services will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park on August 18, 2013. The family asks that memorial gifts be sent to the City of Hope, Duarte, CA.
