Stan was born in Berea, Kentucky, the son of the late Ernest and Lucille Kinnaird Sparks, on December 3, 1945. Stan had lived in Madison County his entire life.
In addition to his wife, Dana, Stan is survived by: his brothers, Sherman Edward Sparks, Howard Russell Sparks and wife Ruthann, Patrick Scott Sparks and wife Tonya; a sister, Shirley Sparks Chitwood; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Doty Maupin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two infant brothers, Timothy and John Turner Sparks; sister-in-law, Judy Sparks; and mother and father-in-law Lloyd L. and Janet Doty Maupin.
Stan was an active member of Hays Fork Baptist Church until ill health prevented him from attending.
Stan was owner and operator of Sparks Construction Company. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, farming, taking care of his horses and cattle.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie "Butch" Pennington, Rev. Hamilton Valentine and Rev. Vincent Carman officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Paul Baker, Lloyd Doty Maupin, William Joseph Armstrong, Virgil McGee Jr., Raymond Biggs, Fred Tilsley and Todd Doty Moberly.
Honorary bearers will be Tommy and Marie Simpson, Vernon Vaught, Sherman Sparks, Rus Sparks, Patrick Sparks, Randy Hellard, Tim Hellard, Harold Ray McQueen and Wendell Lee Pitts.
