Several Illnesses Entering Upon Most
Critical Stage - Dr. Clark Defends
State Health Work.
This week ushered in two more deaths from typhoid fever contracted it is believed, at the flower carnival in Gasport late in August, and a general denial from District State Health Officer Dr. Edward Clark of Buffalo, to the charges of apparent indiscretion and neglect upon the part of State Health Department employee, made by prominent Gasport business men in connection with their conduct of the epidemic situation there.
The fourth and fifth victim of the malady, due it is believed to water from the Gasport Congregational church well, are Mrs. Clarita Swift, 35 years old, who died this morning at her home at Johnson Creek, and Mrs. Annie Otto, 54 years old, of the Quaker road, town of Hartland. Many of the two score typhoid patients are now entering upon the most critical stages of their illness Town Health Officer Dr Frank O. Cole of Gasport, declares.

Mrs. Otto died yesterday morning at the Lockport City hospital. She leaves a son, Glenn W. Otto, five sisters and four brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at the Quaker road home tomorrow afternoon at 2 30 o'clock, the Rev. A. E Dutcher of Gasport officiating, assisted by the Rev. Everett Chapman. Burial will be in Hartland Central cemetery...
