Dolores "Dickie" Rumley Helms, 75, of Surf City, died Monday, July 11, 2005, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. She was born March 10, 1930, in Raleigh, NC, daughter of the late Curtis M. Rumley and Virginia Winters Rumley. Mrs. Helms was a member of Wesleyan Chapel in Scotts Hill. She was a Registered Nurse in Durham, NC, for many years. She also was an E.M.S. instructor in New Hanover County. Until the time of her death she was still employed as a Magistrate in the 5th Judicial District in NC. "Dickie" is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Donald E. Helms Sr.; a daughter, Marion Helms Katalinic and husband Paul of Wilmington and their two daughters, Virginia Crider and husband Matthew and Mary Katalinic; a son, Donald E. Helms Jr. and wife Debra of Wilmington and daughter Carol Helms. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Andrews Mortuary, Hampstead Chapel, by Rev. Karen Howell. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. "Dickie's" family also wishes to thank the many teams of doctors, nurses and other members of New Hanover Regional Medical Center that gave their support, efforts and kindness to Mrs. Helms and her family during her time spent with them. Her family truly appreciated the time and efforts they spent with her; Thank you to all of you. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in "Dickie's" name to: Union Rescue Squad, P.O.
