SCREVEN COUNTY - Mrs. Jessie T. Adams, age 62, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Screven County Hospital after a short illness. She was a native of Screven County and a member of Simmons Branch Baptist Church and a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Adams.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara (Clifford) Taylor of Statesboro; a goddaughter, Amy Robinson of Augusta; one uncle, Eugene Natson of Statesboro; two aunts, Emma Florence of Statesboro and Minnie Darisaw of Louisville, Ga.; five nieces, Shirley (James) Soloman of Augusta, Cathy (Anthony) Jenkins, Tracy (Eurique) Denson, Diane (Eric) Johnson and Reatha Lester, all of Statesboro; four nephews, Jerry (Catheryn) Wright of North Augusta, Ray Edwards and Larry (Lisa) Edwards, both of Atlanta, and Lamar (Lisa) Edwards of Statesboro; a very special loving and devoted niece and nephew, Valarie (Elder) Winston-Crump; one brother-in-law, Walter (Mable) Adams; one sister-in-law, Annie Wright; and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be no formal visitation for Mrs. Adams, but she will be out for public viewing all day Friday, August 22, 2008. The funeral service for Mrs. Jessie T. Adams will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Simmons Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Herrington officiating. Burial: church cemetery. The remains will lie in state from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
