He joined the US Marine Corp in 1943 and served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.
He was an avid Cubbies fan and boxing fan. He loved his dogs, Smoochie and Lightning.
He is survived by his wife whom he married March 27, 1971: Judith ''Judi'' (Jewell) Estes. Children: Shirley Mae Estes of Anderson. Dan Estes of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Son-in-law: Michael D. Ebbert. Stepdaughter: Penny & husband Dale Jachim of Anderson. Brother: William Estes of Anderson. Three Grandchildren: Daniel Estes of Florida, Jeff Estes and Michele Ebbert of Greenwood. Two Step Grandchildren: Richard Jachim and Danielle Jachim of Anderson. Three Great Grandchildren: Mikayla R. Ebbert, Kaitlyn V. Ebbert and Kacie Mae Ebbert.
