Yeceli Nahomi was one of the 2009 ABC Day Care center fire of Hermosillo's 49 young casualties, whose ages ranged from six months to four years old. A young life taken far too soon.
According to Mexican Attorney General Eduardo Medina Mora, the cause of the fire was an airconditioning unit in the day care center's neighbouring warehouse that overheated and malfunctioned due to continuous and prolonged use. The warehouse itself, which was closed and empty when the fire started, was equipped with neither fire extinguishers nor smoke alarms. However, it was later discovered that the fire was started intentionally in the warehouse next to the day care center.
Furthermore, the day care center had incredibly passed previous safety inspections despite the fact that the center itself had been rife with numerous safety issues in the past, e.g. no water sprinklers, locked emergency exit, fire alarms not installed correctly.
