John William Goodin, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was born March 2, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late William & Mary Helen Goodin. John was a graduate of Andrew Jackson class of 1963, was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church. John s favorite past time was spent with his loving wife and family. He was known for his compassion and generosity to those in need. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marsha; son, John Goodin Jr. (Karen); daughter, Christie Snyder (Sam) of Orange Park; brothers, Richard, Ronnie (Debbie), and Buddy Goodin (Lanette); sisters, Ann Lee (Charles), Barbara Ramirez (Juan) and Mary Mobley (Billy); grandchildren, Mason Manion, Jake Snyder, John Ross Goodin, Jordan Snyder, Katie Goodin, Jenna and Joe Snyder, Michael and Faith Jurney and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30 at 11AM at North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 North Main Street, with Dr. Herb Reavis, Jr. officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening at the church from 6-8PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Cedar Bay Funeral Home.
