Tahlequah, OK- Funeral services for Marlon Joe Charles will be held on Friday, April 26th, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Gil Hooper officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25th, 2013 at Reed-Culver Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be held at Price Cemetery. Pallbearers for Marlon Charles include Charles Wiedert, Theron Speaks, Skye Jumper, Lonnie Langley, Daniel Hensley, Daniel Faddis, and Travis Charles. Honorary pallbearers include Cliff Nicholas, Marty Charles, and Chase Dixon.
Marlon Joe Charles was born on August 16th, 1960 in Kingfisher, OK, the son of Farris and Dixie (Stewart) Charles. He went to work at Ozark and Midwestern Container working in the transportation of plants, and also worked at NSU as a Sanitation Technician, and at Creek Nation Casino in Muskogee. He married Edie Coldwell on December 30th, 1981 in Tahlequah, OK. Together they raised two children, Christopher Dixon and Lisa Dixon. Marlon was a quiet, kind, considerate man, happiest to be with those he loved, and in his own home. He had an easy going style and a warm smile. He enjoyed beadwork, working out in his yard, and playing softball. He loved any chance he got to be with his wife, children, and family was simply the best. He adored his grandchildren and was very proud of all they accomplished. Marlon was called to his eternal rest on April 23rd, 2013 in Tahlequah, OK, at the age of 52. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Marlon is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Lucy Charles and Charlie and Ernestine Stewart, father-in-law, Jack Nicholas, brother-in-law, Jack Nicholas Jr., nephew, Tyler Joe Charles, and nephew Brice Fishinghawk's wife, Samantha.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Edie of the home, both mother and father of Park Hill, OK, his son, Christopher Dixon of Teresita, OK, his daughter, Lisa Dixon and friend Josh Hope of Tahlequah, OK, two brothers, Travis Charles of Park Hill, OK, and Marty Charles and wife Nadine of Woodall, OK. He leaves two sisters, Staci Crow and husband Ronnie of Briggs, OK, and Lisa Charles of Park Hill, OK. His legacy lives on in his grandson, Chase Austin Dixon of Tahlequah, OK and Megan Dawn Dixon of Foyle, OK as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
