Daniel Craze was born in DeKalb Co. Alabama, he is listed in the 1860 DeKalb Co. census as the minor child of James Craze.When he was 21 years old he was mustered into the 1st Alabama & Tennessee Independent Vidette Cavalry Co. C
as a private on September 19th 1863 at Stevenson Alabama. He was mustered out on June 16th 1864 at Stevenson Alabama as a private. He was mustered in along with his father James Craze and an uncle John Craze.
