Lottie was the third wife of Earl Wood. His two pervious wives died of tuberculosis and it was thought that he might have been a carrier of the illness. On April 3, of 1938 Lottie too succumbed to tuberculosis at the age of 27.
She died at the Jasper County Tuberculosis Hospital in Webb City, Missouri.
