Elinor Russell Ayer, a loving mother and beloved friend, died April 11, 2013. She was born July 31, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. Elinor was a member at Swaim United Methodist Church and while attending was a member of the choir and served in many different areas of ministry. She was a certified Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church. She was also involved and served in many other ministries including Florida Crown Emmaus, Florida Crown Chrysalis, Florida Journey and Kairos Outside of Northeast Florida. She was involved in Windy Hill PTA and the Sandalwood Band Boosters. Before she became ill she worked at Lighthouse Christian School as an assistant and tutor and had a deep love for the students. She attended the University of New Hampshire where she majored in music. After moving to Jacksonville she joined the Jacksonville Concert Chorale. Elinor is survived by: children, Les Ayer, David Ayer, Robert Ayer (Claudia), and Lauren Ayer; grandchildren: Deanna Smith (Chad), Megan Evans (Donnie), Michael Ayer, Nick Ayer, Kasey Ayer; great grandchildren: Jenna Brophy, Scott Brophy, and Jody Smith, Maddie and Brody Evans, a sister in law Eveyln Ayer and three nephews Richard Ayer, Brian Ayer and Paul Ayer. She was preceded in death by her husband Loren Ayer.A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in Lakeside Cemetery, Newbury, NH.
