March 11, 1941 - Storm Lake Register - Funeral services for two well known residents of Storm Lake were held Saturday afternoon at the the Hughes funeral home. Final rites for Henry Deppe, 81, who passed away Thursday morning at his home 524 Superior street were held at 2 o'clock. He had been in declining health for the past few months.
Henry Deppe was born July 1, 1859, at Lippe Detmold, Germany. He was baptized and confirmed in the German Reformed church. He came to the United States at the age of 25. He landed in New York City March 22, 1885, and arrived in Storm Lake March 24 of the same year.
He was united in marriage to Sarah Hartman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Hartman, on Feb. 1, 1888. Following their marriage they lived on a farm near Schaller. During their married life they spent 19 years in Sac county, four years in Ida county and a year in Minnesota on various farms. Mr. Deppe moved to Storm Lake after he retired from farming.
Besides his wife, Sarah, he leaves to mourn, five sons and three daughters: William and Ed of Ida Grove, Fred of Cherokee, Adam of Storm Lake, and Paul of Alta, Mrs. Louise Christensen and Mrs. Eva Newman of Sioux City, and Miss Emma Deppe at home. There are also 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
